A part-time research assistant/work-study position is available in the Division of Vaccine Discovery at the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology. We are looking for a motivated person interested in science to assist with research projects. We are studying the immunology of viral infections that affect people worldwide. Participation in research projects will involve mouse husbandary, maintenance of lab supplies and cell lines, amplification of viral strains, and various molecular biology- (sequencing, qRT-PCR), and immunology- (flow cytometry, immunofluorescence analysis) related techniques. Opportunities for learning additional immunologic and virologic assays exist, depending upon the experience and interest of the applicant. The applicant should have a background in Biological Sciences or completed immunology- or virology-related courses.

We would prefer a student in their 2nd or 3rd year of undergraduate work.
