March 20-27, 2010 - SAN DIEGO SCIENCE FESTIVAL
events-sdscience2010.gifThe La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology participated in the 2010 San Diego Science Festival. This annual festival celebrates and inspires Science and Innovation for students all across San Diego County.

From February through March, 2010 as part of the festival, The La Jolla Institute researchers spoke in our local schools to students in hopes of inspiring young people toward careers in science.

March 2009 - SAN DIEGO SCIENCE FESTIVAL 2009 - NIFTY 50
The La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology proudly participated in San Diego's first-ever Science Festival 2009.  This inaugural event celebrated and inspired Science and Innovation for students all across San Diego County.  Visit www.sdsciencefestival.com and see how the San Diego Science Festival became the biggest science festival in the U.S.!

La Jolla Institute researchers Alex Sette, Ph.D., Klaus Ley, M.D., and Stephen Schoenberger, Ph.D. participated in the Festival's Nifty Fifty by speaking in our local schools to students in hopes of inspiring young people toward careers in science.  In addition, we hosted 17 students from Chula Vista High School for a presentation on the history and use of lasers in biomedical research.  Vice President and CTO Steve Wilson, Ph.D. welcomed the students, followed by an in-depth talk by Leo Fernandez, Director of the Imaging Facility.  We were all inspired by the students' enthusiasm, energy leval and insightful questions throughout the day.

CONNECT FRAMEWORKS WORKSHOPS
The La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology has partnered with CONNECT to host ongoing educational opportunities for entrepreneurs building and growing innovative new technology or life science companies, and offers select members and friends of the Institute the opportunity to provide expert content to a responsive, interactive audience.

CONNECT FrameWorks workshops are half-day professional development programs, scheduled throughout the year.  Attendees are generally founders, CEO's and managers involved in strategic business growth and development, or scientists and technology experts considering a business start-up.
