Skip Carpowich serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Secretary of La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology (LIAI). He is responsible for the Institute's business, legal and financial affairs, and oversees LIAI's administrative departments. Working closely with President Mitch Kronenberg and La Jolla Institute's Board of Directors, Carpowich is a key player in developing and implementing strategic plans and initiatives at LIAI.

Before joining LIAI in 1991 as Chief Financial Officer, Carpowich served in the audit and tax departments of the international accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche. He is a certified public accountant and holds a B.S. Degree in business administration from San Diego State University.

Dr. Kimishige Ishizaka served in the dual role of President and Scientific Director of LIAI until his retirement in 1996. He is currently President Emeritus of LIAI and also on the LIAI Board of Directors as a Director Emeritus.
