Morag Mackay is ultimately responsible for all activities for the function and operation of the Department of Laboratory Animal Care with particular emphasis on animal care, regulatory compliance, training, communications with scientific faculty and staff, and staff development.

Prior to joining LIAI in 2007, Morag has spent over 22 years working in the scientific research environment in a variety of settings including academia, industry, biotechnology, and contract research. She is qualified as a Veterinary Nurse, a Registered Laboratory Animal Technologist, a Surgical Research Specialist, and holds a Certificate in Education and Training.

Dr. Kimishige Ishizaka served in the dual role of President and Scientific Director of LIAI until his retirement in 1996. He is currently President Emeritus of LIAI and also on the LIAI Board of Directors as a Director Emeritus.
