MaryAnn F. Stewart serves as Vice President, External Relations and Chief Development Officer of the La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology (LIAI). With President Mitch Kronenberg, she leads the development of fundraising priorities and the engagement of external constituencies to support the strategic plans and initiatives of the Institute.

She is responsible for the Institute's growing external relations program, which encompasses principal and major gift development, corporate and foundation relations, communications and media relations, and special events.

Before joining LIAI in 2007, MaryAnn was Executive Director, External Relations for the Irwin and Joan Jacobs School of Engineering at UC San Diego where she led a high-performance team in all aspects of external relations, including oversight of the von Liebig Center for Entrepreneurism & Technology Advancement since 2001. Previously, she served the entire UC San Diego campus for six years as the Director of the Office of Planned Giving. For several years prior to joining UCSD, she was Director of the Trusts & Bequests program at Santa Clara University in the San Francisco Bay Area.

MaryAnn received her B.A. from Santa Clara University and the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant (CLU, ChFC) from the American College in Bryn Mawr.

Dr. Kimishige Ishizaka served in the dual role of President and Scientific Director of LIAI until his retirement in 1996. He is currently President Emeritus of LIAI and also on the LIAI Board of Directors as a Director Emeritus.
